Questions for August 15, 2021

  1. What has God been teaching you this week or what does he have you thinking about from today’s message?
  2. What have you been taught about Hell and would you explain to someone your current belief about eternal punishment?
  3. In Matthew 5:29-30 Jesus says: If your right eye causes you to sin, tear it out and throw it away. For it is better that you lose one of your members than that your whole body be thrown into hell.30 And if your right hand causes you to sin, cut it off and throw it away. For it is better that you lose one of your members than that your whole body go into hell.” What is Jesus trying to teach here?
  4. If Hell in the verses above has to do with a place of Eternal Punishment would the verses found in Matthew 5:29-30 teach us that it is what we do that keeps us from Hell? Would that be contrary to the Gospel?
  5. In a small group meeting Jack says, “I know that many Christians believe if you do not believe in Jesus, you will spend eternity in Hell.If that is true, why is it always said at a Funeral that the person is “In a better Place” even when by all accounts the person was not a believer? How might you answer Jack’s Question?
  6. We have spoken about the reality of Living in the Kingdom of God on earth right now!Do you also believe that some might be living in “Hell” on earth Right now?

Questions for August 1, 2021

  1. What has God been teaching you this week and/or what does he have you thinking about from today’s message?
  2. Describe a memorable RETREAT for you. What made it so memorable?  What did you learn?   Where you alone or were you with others?
  3. Scott discussed the word ecclesia in the New Testament is translated CHURCH when describing a positive gathering of people, but assembly or gathering when describing a not so good group of people. On the other hand, Synagogue is translated assembly or gathering when it describes a positive group and Synagogue when a hostile group. What might this be teaching us?
  4. Teaching with Authority meant a Rabbi would say, “You have heard it said but I say to you”….. If someone, a preacher or teacher says that kid of thing today how is that received? Would it be considered authority or heresy?
  5. The Concept of Binding and Loosing (Interpreting) was for the Jewish Religious Leadership Class; Jesus gave it to his followers. Do you think we use that authority today? Why or why not? Do we leave it in the hand of the Religious Leadership today?
  6. Scott shared the story of His mother’s church washing feet each Sunday morning in the service. We interpret this command of Jesus differently.  Can you think of other passages we have interpreted differently, and we accept today without question? Does the concept of US binding and loosing, interpreting cause you concern? Why or why not?

July 25th

Questions for July 25, 2021

  1. What has God been teaching you this week or what does he have you thinking about from today’s message?
  2. If you had a PERECT DAY, what would it be like?
  3. Have you ever struggled with perfectionism, from where was this struggle birthed?
  4. For the next three Questions we are using as our backdrop the Greek work for Perfect meaning Complete, Mature (or fully grown) and being in ones intended place. What would the difference be in a person working toward “completeness” as opposed to a person believing they are complete and seeking to walk in what they already have?
  5. In what ways have you matured in the last year?
  6. Do you feel as if you are in God’s Intended Place for you? How do you determine this?
  7. How can we be lifting you up in prayer this week?
