Questions for August 1, 2021
- What has God been teaching you this week and/or what does he have you thinking about from today’s message?
- Describe a memorable RETREAT for you. What made it so memorable? What did you learn? Where you alone or were you with others?
- Scott discussed the word ecclesia in the New Testament is translated CHURCH when describing a positive gathering of people, but assembly or gathering when describing a not so good group of people. On the other hand, Synagogue is translated assembly or gathering when it describes a positive group and Synagogue when a hostile group. What might this be teaching us?
- Teaching with Authority meant a Rabbi would say, “You have heard it said but I say to you”….. If someone, a preacher or teacher says that kid of thing today how is that received? Would it be considered authority or heresy?
- The Concept of Binding and Loosing (Interpreting) was for the Jewish Religious Leadership Class; Jesus gave it to his followers. Do you think we use that authority today? Why or why not? Do we leave it in the hand of the Religious Leadership today?
- Scott shared the story of His mother’s church washing feet each Sunday morning in the service. We interpret this command of Jesus differently. Can you think of other passages we have interpreted differently, and we accept today without question? Does the concept of US binding and loosing, interpreting cause you concern? Why or why not?
- How might we be lifting you up in prayer this week?

- If you had a PERECT DAY, what would it be like?
- Have you ever struggled with perfectionism, from where was this struggle birthed?
- For the next three Questions we are using as our backdrop the Greek work for Perfect meaning Complete, Mature (or fully grown) and being in ones intended place. What would the difference be in a person working toward “completeness” as opposed to a person believing they are complete and seeking to walk in what they already have?
- In what ways have you matured in the last year?
- Do you feel as if you are in God’s Intended Place for you? How do you determine this?
- How can we be lifting you up in prayer this week?

1. What has God been teaching you this week or what does he have you thinking about from today’s message?
2. Scott shared a story about a prayer meeting at Dallas Seminary. A couple asked him after the service why God did not answer their prayer? How would you have responded to the couple?
3. The Jews and Eastern Religions have Times for corporate prayer each day. Why does Christianity not have this?
4. The Hebrew word for Prayer means Contemplation, give an accounting or Judgement. What might this teach us about what God wants us to understand about prayer?
5. Why did Jesus encourage his followers to pray in a closed room in secret?
6. What are you thought about prayer being a time of wrestling with God deep in the recesses of your heart? What part of the Lord’s Pray causes you the most wrestle?
7. How can we be lifting you up in prayer this week?
