January 19 – Teaching

January 19th, 2020 – Acts 2:42-47 (NLT)

1.  What did God stir in you as you watched the Video today?

2.  Proverbs 27:17 Says, “As Iron sharpens iron so one man sharpens another” Share about someone who has sharpened you spiritually.  What has this meant in your life.

3. React to the statement, you cannot grow in a vacuum, Disciples grow in a wrestling community?

4. The first Disciples experienced, The Apostles Teaching, Fellowship, Awe, Giving, and Worship.  How are you experiencing these? Share about one encounter with one of these that led to growth in your life.

5. What are some distractions in your life currently that keep you from growing as a disciple? (You might discuss the difference between growth as a believer and growth as a disciple)

6. Share one way you have grown as a disciple in the last year?

7. Share something with the group they can pray for this week and share in a time of prayer before you leave today.

January 12 – Teaching

January 12, 2020 – Matthew 28:18-20 (NLT)

1.  What did God stir in you as you watched the Video today?

2.  How would you explain the “Good News” to someone?  What did you grow up believing was your job, as a Christian, to be in sharing this message?

3. Where did the “Sinners Prayer” begin? Take some time and search the internet to see what you can find?  Would you say this is a Biblical Prayer or manmade? Why?

4. Jesus called people to live Radically different lives.  The woman caught in Adultery; the Rich Young Ruler are a couple examples.  As people look at our lives today, what might they say is Radically Different about us as Christ Followers?

5. Matthew 28:18-20 is referred to as the great commission. Jesus calls us to go and make disciples, what does that mean and look like to you?

6. Scott mentioned Baptizing people in the character of God, how do you understand this concept?

December 29 – Teaching

December 29, 2019

    1. What did God stir in you as you watched the Video today?
    2. Share a lesson that God taught you in 2019? How did He teach you this? How have you passed it on to others?
    3. Looking back at 2019 what are somethings you wish you could have accomplished but were unable to? What kept you from these goals? 
    4. What are some goals that you have set for yourself in 2020?
    5. Think about these areas of your life: Intellectual, spiritual, vocational, avocational, parental, marital, financial, educational, and emotional. Where do you need to focus growth in 2020?
    6. Of the 5 rules of the day that Scott shared, which do you do well? What might be one that doesn’t come to you so easy, why? What might you do to incorporate this rule?
    7. Share something with the group they can pray for this week and share in a time of prayer before you leave today. 

December 15 – Teaching

Matthew 1:18-25 NLT

1.What did God stir in your heart as you watched the video?

2.Where do you see “comfort addiction” manifesting itself in our world? How about in your life?

3.Who has the ability to speak into your life spiritually and make suggestions for changes? When was the last time this happened in your life and what changes did you make?

4.Some people call themselves minimalists? What place does “minimizing” our lives have in our walk with God?

5.Scott spoke about minimizing beliefs that effect our lives and keep us stuck, often in bad situations. React to these audacious truths. Are they a struggle to embrace?

a. I am fully forgiven and free from all shame and condemnation. Romans 8:1-2; Ephesians 1:7-8; 1 John 1:9

b. I have no fear or anxiety I trust in the Lord with all my heart. Proverbs 3:5-6, Philippians 4:6-7; 1 Peter 5:7

c. I am able to fulfill the calling God has placed on my life. Exodus 3:9-12; Colossians 1:24-29

d. I’m fully resourced to do everything God has called me to do. Deuteronomy 8:18; Luke 6:38; Philippians 4:13

E. I am increasing in influence and favor for the kingdom of God. Genesis45:4-8;1 Samuel 1:26; Acts 2:37-47

F. I have the wisdom of the Lord concerning every decision I make. 2 chronicles 1:7-12; Proverbs 2:6; Ecclesiastes 2:26

6.Does fear cause us to seek comfort? Why? Why not? What examples would you give!
