Questions for October 22 nd :

  1. What has God been teaching you this week and how has He been using you?
  2. What questions surfaced for you from the teaching this morning?
  3. Why do you think God is not mentioned in this book? Does this fact lessen its importance
    for you? Is there a greater message in this fact for us?
  4. Through our history and even to this day people want to obliterate the Jewish people.
    Why is this?
  5. Mordecai said to Esther “And who knows, but that you have come to your Royal position
    for such a time as this.” Have you ever felt like this in your life? Might this be a daily
    mantra?
  6. As we’ve talked about the Jewish holidays, we’ve discussed the possibility of
    incorporating some of these into our own spiritual journey and celebration. With Purim
    be one of those holidays we might celebrate? Why or why not? How would you
    incorporate it into your spiritual rhythms?
  7. How can we be lifting you up in prayer?

3. When is the first time you remember being exposed to scripture? How old were you? What were you taught about it?

4. On Simchat Torah the Jewish people celebrate the Torah.  How would you describe how Chrsitians view the scripture?

5.How do you use the Scripture in your life? Is it more like a Map, a reference book or Love Letter?

6. How might we as a group best support Israel/The Jewish People in the current conflict they find themselves..

  3. 3. The exodus was a movement from slavery to freedom. How do you personally enter into that story?
  4. 4. Is there any difference of belief in “us going to live with God” or “God coming to live with us?”
  5. 5. What do you think the priest pouring water over the altar symbolized and how does Jesus statement about rivers of water pouring out of us, connect with the act of the priest?
  6. 6. Why do you think this is the holiday that God wanted us to celebrate with all nations forever?

What’s Up with All the Jewish Festivals – Oct – 1

Questions for October 1 st :

  1. What have you seen God doing this week, how has he been using you?
  2. What Questions came up for you from the text and or the message?
  3. What types of preparations did the Jewish people need to make to carry out the
    Day of Atonement?
    4.. Confession is a public event in Hebrew life and also James says: “Confess your
    sins to one another ” (James 5:16) (Is this where Catholic Confession is rooted?)
    How is it that we have made Confession a private thing? Are we missing
    something? Is there danger here?
    5.. We’ve talked about the importance of rest to the Lord, and so far the Jewish
    people have had 10 plus days of rest in the new year. How do we integrate this
    idea of rest into our 20th century lives?
  4. What do you think of the idea of focusing on SIN one day a year and 364 days
    on celebrating and embracing our relationship with God? What might make that
    difficult for us? What might happen if we tried it?

What’s Up with All the Jewish Festivals – Sept 24

Questions for September 24 th :

  1. What has God been doing through you this week?
  2. What Questions came up for you doing todays message?
  3. Why do you think God lists many of the Jewish holidays in the scripture? Or are they
    simply for historical background or is there a practical take away for us today?
  4. Do you have a time of the year that’s a Spiritual Reset for you? What are your practices
    in this area.
  5. God had them Celebrate this New Year on the first day of the 7th month and not the first
    day of the 1st month. Is there reason for this?
  6. God seemed to call the Jewish people to a corporate confession and repentance not an
    individual one. The Church calls us to an individual confession and repentance. Is there
    anything to learn or take away here? 
  7. How can we be lifting you up in prayer this week?
