  1. Where have you seen God working through and around you this week?

  3. If someone were to ask you why God wants us to take a sabbath? How would you answer
    this?
  4. Keeping the sabbath is one of the 10 Commandments. We seem to hold the
    commandments about not committing murder or adultery as more important than the
    commandment about Sabbath? Why is that?
  5. What did Jesus mean in Mark 2:27when he said “the sabbath was made for Man not Man
    for the sabbath“?
  6. How has Sabbath been a part of your spiritual journey? What has worked well? What
    changes do you need to make?

    Hanukkah why do you think it never made its way into “Christian
    tradition?”
  4. When you think about the story of the Maccabees fighting for their temple,
    does it teach us anything about todays present conflict?
  5. Contrast what you see as the main reasons Christmas is celebrated as
    opposed to the main reasons Hanukkah is celebrated?
  6. What are some ways you might incorporate Hanukkah into your Holiday
    Traditions?

What’s Up with All the Jewish Festivals – Oct – 29

October 29 th Questions:

  1. What has God been showing you this week? How is he been working in
    your life?
  2. What questions were raised by the video and/or message this morning?
  3. Using Luke, chapter 12, verse one as a cross reference, what did yeast
    symbolize to the Israelites?
  4. When we studied Yom Kippur, we saw that there was a lot of bloodshed and
    sprinkling of blood in the temple. Now we have blood that is painted on the
    door, posts and door frames. Why is blood so important in God’s directions?
  5. Read the scriptures together: Mark 14:22-25, Luke 22:18-20,1 Corinthians
    11:23-25; keeping in mind that Jesus ordered these words during the
    Passover meal. What are the things you learned from the Scriptures?
  6. How might all that we have learned to discuss today influence our practice
    of the Lord’s supper?
