Questions for May 12 th :

1. Happy Mother’s Day! Share with us a memory about your mom from your childhood?
2. How is God been using you this week? What have you seen him do around you or
   through you?
3. What Questions came up from the scripture and teaching this morning?
4. Put yourself in Sarah’s shoes. After not having any children, you become pregnant for
   nine months and then give birth to a son. What are the thoughts you’d be having during
   your pregnancy and around the birth of your son? What comments do you think other
   people would be making?
5. How do you think Abraham was feeling when Sarah had him to get rid of Hagar and
   Ishmael?
6. What do God’s comments to Hagar and Ishmael teach us about God and his desires?

2. What questions do you have from the text and/or the message today?
3. How in the World did Abraham make this mistake/choice again with everything it caused
   the first time?
4. Does God always keep people from sinning when they’ve been lied to?
5. Why do you think Abraham believed that Abimelek had no fear of God? What causes us
   to do that?
6. What have been your Greatest take away from Genesis since Easter?

3. That Lot was sitting by the gate meant that he was a leader/politician in Sodom…..what
   might this teach us about Lot?
4. Lot was an assimilator he became like the world around him.  Noah was an isolator he
   isolated himself from the world around him. Abraham was an engager, he engaged the
   world around him. Which of these three men do you see the most of in the church today?
   Why do you say this?
5. Why do you think God spared Lot?
6. What do we learn about hospitality and caring on the family line from this chapter? what
   does God want us to learn from this story?
7. How can we be praying for you this week?

3. Who do you think the three men where who came to meet Abraham
4. What are your thoughts about Middle Eastern Hospitality?
5. When does our hospitality give way to fear today? What do you think of Scott’s
   statement, “When motivated by fear we cannot bring the Kingdom?”
6. React to Abrahams encounter with God about Sodom and Gomorrah. Did he change
   God’s mind?

1. How have you seen God working this week? How has he used you?
2. What questions do you have from the text this morning?
3. Why would God ask Abraham to walk before him and be blameless? Is this possible?
4. Reading versus one and two was walking before God and being blameless a requirement
   of the covenant?
5. Why would God desire to make a covenant with Abraham? (or us for that matter)
   knowing that Abraham had failed him and so do we.
6. When Abraham asks if Ishmael can be his heir, what does that reveal about Abraham?
