Colossians 2:6-23 – Discussion Questions:

  1. What did God stir in your heart this week or this morning?
  2. What is the practical difference between understanding Jesus as Savior and Jesus as Lord?
  3. How do you decern the difference between Godly truth and human tradition?
  4. In Christ you have been brought to Fullness!  What does this verse mean to you, do you think most believers understand and or embrace this truth?
  5. Listen to Colossians 2:13-14 again: “When you were dead in your sins and in the uncircumcision of your flesh, God made you[a] alive with Christ. He forgave us all our sins, 14 having canceled the charge of our legal indebtedness, which stood against us and condemned us; he has taken it away, nailing it to the cross. ”When did God forgive our sins? What part does the sinners prayer or accepting Jesus play in the forgiveness of your sins?
  6. How do our answers to question 4 regulate how we share the Good News with someone who might not understand the gift of God?
  7. What prayer concerns do you have this week?

4. Many people say, “I don’t need to go to church, I can worship God
anywhere” How would you explain the importance of the
Community of Faith?
5. Psalm 71:5 says: “For you have been my hope, Sovereign Lord,
my confidence since my youth.” In what areas of your life does
your confidence wane?
6. Where have you seen Planning and Faith clash, what is the
solution to this?

  1. Scott mentioned this might be a difficult message to hear, what was the toughest part for you to listen to?
  2. What have you learned in your life about suffering?
  3. In what ways does suffering help the church?
  4. Where does God want you to bring His presence (Christ in you the Hope of Glory) this week?
  5. This life is momentary, what makes us hold on to it so tightly?
  6. Admonishing means to warn or reprimand; Teaching means to instruct through example.  We are to do these two things with all Wisdom toward the goal of leading people to be fully mature in Christ. What should those two things (Admonishing and Teaching) look like in the church?
