Book Genesis – September 22

Questions for September 22 nd :

  1. What have you seen God doing this week and how has he been using you?
  2. What questions came up for you from the text and or message this morning?
  3. The cupbearer heard Pharaoh’s dreams and after no one could interpret he remembered Joseph
    in Jail.  Was this something that just jugged his memory or do you think something else is
    going on here?
  4. What does vs. 16 teach us about Joseph? How about vs. 33?
  5. In what ways did God use Joseph’s life to prepare him for this moment? 
  6. Joseph was given a gift, had a dream, lost his coat, put in a dungeon; then released from a
    dungeon, given a new coat, interpreted a dream and given a gift……What do we learn from
    the chasm here?
  7. How can we be listing you in prayer this week?

  3. Joseph starts the day be recognizing their sadness? What might this teach us?
  4. Joseph says, “Do not all interpretations belong to God? Tell me your dreams? What does this
    tell us about Joseph?
  5. This Joseph seem to be handling these dreams differently than he handled his own dreams
    with his brothers? Why do you say so?
  6. Do you think the cup bear actually forgot Joseph or was there something else going on?
  7. How can we be praying for you this week?

  1. Where are you seeing God working this week and how has he been using you?
  2. What questions came up for you today from the text and or message?
  3. Verse two says the Lord was with Joseph so that he prospered. Was this a special presence of
    God in his life or is it something that we all have?
  4. Verses eight and nine, Joseph explains to Potiphar’s wife while he will not sleep with her. Do
    you find Joseph’s explanation to be self-serving or God honoring? Why do you say so?
  5. Leaving a cloak behind does this seem strange to you in anyway?
  6. What are the similarities between Potiphar and the warden?
  7. How can we be praying for you this week.

  3. Last week we were caught in the middle of the Joseph story he was just sold as a slave to
    Egypt and now the next chapter follows the life of Judah. Why do you think this chapter was
    important at this time? What did God want us to learn from it?
  4. Reading verse 14 what was going on in Tamar’s mind and motivation?
  5. What did Judah mean in vs. 26 When he said, “She is more righteous than I since I would not
    give her to my son Shelah.”
  6. Twins, where have we heard this story before? Are there any similarities?
  7. How can we be praying for you this week?

Questions for August 25 th :
1. Where have you seen God at work this week? How has he been using you?

  1. What questions came up from the text and or message this week?
  2. Why has God shared with us the story of Esau descendants? Where have you heard part of the
    story before?
  3. In chapter 37 we begin to read the story of Joseph. As you read what stands out to you about
    this young 17-year-old boy.
  4. Joseph Brothers wanted to kill him. Reuben stepped in to stop this. Why do you think he did
    so?
  5. Judah suggested that Joseph be sold. What do you think Joseph was thinking as he left that day
    in a caravan to Egypt?
  6. How can we be praying for you this week?
