Questions July 14 – Genesis 30:

1. What has God been teaching you this week?  

2. What questions were raised by the text and or teaching this week?

3. In the beginning of Chapter 30 we read that Rachel was Jealous and Jacob became Angry……Often we focus on behavior, we focus on whether it is right or wrong.  Would you say God is more interested in our behavior or our attitude/emotion?

4. We read that Sarah gave Hagar to Abraham to have a heir.  In chapter 30 we read that Rachel and Leah gave their servants to Jacob…..is this the same thing, or something different? Why do you say so? And, what is the similarity and difference between the birthright story with Jacob and Esau and the Mandrake story with Rachel and Leah?

5. Laban said he learned by “Divination” that the Lord had blessed him.  What does this mean to you? What does this teach us about God?

6. What can we learn from the story of the spotted and streaked Animals?

7. How can we be praying for you this week?

1. How is God been using you this week? What have you seen him do around you or through you?
2. What Questions came up from the scripture and teaching this morning?
3. Jacob is fleeing to Paddan Aram the land of his Eastern people. After all the lying and deception that Jacob has participated in why do you think God continues to use him? 
4. What do you believe Jacob might’ve been thinking when he saw Rachel and knew she was Laban’s daughter
5. Why do you think Laban deceived Jacob?
6. What are two or three truths you believe God is trying to teach us through this story?

1. What has God been teaching you this week? Where have you seen him working 
   2. What questions did the text and or teaching bring up for you?
   3. Abraham told his servant not to let Isaac go back to his hometown and yet Isaac sent Jacob back to his hometown. Is there anything we should learn from this?
   4. Esau goes and Marries the daughter of Ishmael. Is his reaction understandable?
   What other options did he have? What can we learn from saw
   5. God renews the covenant with Jacob in a dream. Why do you think he chose that method when he just spoke to Abraham and Isaac?
   6. What are your thoughts of Jacob‘s vow inverse 20 and 21?

3. What do you believe was the motivation of Rebecca?
4. In Chapter 25 Esau sold his Birthright. In this chapter we’re talking about Blessing, are these the same thing? Different? Connected in someway.
5. Is Rebecca and Jacob’s behavior deceptive, or just carrying out what God desired, or another example of taking God’s plans into their own hands? Why do you say so? Part 2- What does this teach us about God, about us, about our relationship with God?
6. Why couldn’t Issac reverse the blessing?
7. How can we be praying for You this week?

Questions for June 16 th :

1. What has God been teaching you this week?
2. What questions do you have from the text or message today?
3. In Genesis 26:2-3 God gives Issac some direction, why do you think he gave this
   to Issac, why did he not give it to Abraham?
4. God told Issac that His Father did everything required of him? Would you think
   this is true? What does this statement teach us about God?
5. Issac did the same thing as his Father, lied saying his wife was his sister is this
   coincidence? Is something else going on here?  
6. In both cases Abraham and Issac were “blessed” after lying. What is that all about?
7. The people saw “clearly that the Lord was with Issac” what were they seeing and
   how does this happen in our lives?
