December 29 – Teaching

December 29, 2019

    1. What did God stir in you as you watched the Video today?
    2. Share a lesson that God taught you in 2019? How did He teach you this? How have you passed it on to others?
    3. Looking back at 2019 what are somethings you wish you could have accomplished but were unable to? What kept you from these goals? 
    4. What are some goals that you have set for yourself in 2020?
    5. Think about these areas of your life: Intellectual, spiritual, vocational, avocational, parental, marital, financial, educational, and emotional. Where do you need to focus growth in 2020?
    6. Of the 5 rules of the day that Scott shared, which do you do well? What might be one that doesn’t come to you so easy, why? What might you do to incorporate this rule?
    7. Share something with the group they can pray for this week and share in a time of prayer before you leave today. 

December 15 – Teaching

Matthew 1:18-25 NLT

1.What did God stir in your heart as you watched the video?

2.Where do you see “comfort addiction” manifesting itself in our world? How about in your life?

3.Who has the ability to speak into your life spiritually and make suggestions for changes? When was the last time this happened in your life and what changes did you make?

4.Some people call themselves minimalists? What place does “minimizing” our lives have in our walk with God?

5.Scott spoke about minimizing beliefs that effect our lives and keep us stuck, often in bad situations. React to these audacious truths. Are they a struggle to embrace?

a. I am fully forgiven and free from all shame and condemnation. Romans 8:1-2; Ephesians 1:7-8; 1 John 1:9

b. I have no fear or anxiety I trust in the Lord with all my heart. Proverbs 3:5-6, Philippians 4:6-7; 1 Peter 5:7

c. I am able to fulfill the calling God has placed on my life. Exodus 3:9-12; Colossians 1:24-29

d. I’m fully resourced to do everything God has called me to do. Deuteronomy 8:18; Luke 6:38; Philippians 4:13

E. I am increasing in influence and favor for the kingdom of God. Genesis45:4-8;1 Samuel 1:26; Acts 2:37-47

F. I have the wisdom of the Lord concerning every decision I make. 2 chronicles 1:7-12; Proverbs 2:6; Ecclesiastes 2:26

December 1st – Kids Rule

1.  What did God stir in you as you watched the Video today?

2.  How have kids changed in the last 50 years?

3. Several years ago when Bobby Knight was asked this question his immediate reply was, “Kids have not changed their parents have?”  What are your thoughts on that statement?

5. Which of the Questions Scott asked in the video, stood out the most to you?

5. In your journey as a parent what is the toughest part of instilling God’s truths and a hunger for him into your children?

  5. Have you ever heard the Jim Elliott story before?  What would possess a man to try and take the gospel to a tribe like the Auqua Indians?

  2. In the Video Devon spoke of Anxiety in his life….What makes you anxious in life?
  3. Dr. Les Parrott speaks about “perceptual set”  In the picture he showed did you see the young woman or the old woman first….why do you think that is?
  4. React to the statement, “Loving like Jesus requires that you see what others do not”
  5. Is there a situation in your life that God is calling you to love like Jesus?

November 10 – TEACHING

  2. Where have you seen the progression of sin in your life or in the world around you…Walk, Stand, Sit!
  3. The Righteous person hungers for the Word of God the Psalmist says.  How would you describe your hunger?  What is the biggest challenge you face when seeking to spend time in the Word of God?!
  4. There are many times in my life when I feel like “Chaff” I feel like I am being blown all over the place by circumstances, pressure and drama.  Does this mean I am walking a path that is ungodly, wicked?
  5. The psalmist says that God watches over the way of the righteous.  Where have you felt God watching over your way?
  6. What is the main take away for you from today’s teaching and or discussion and how will you apply it to your life?

October 27th

  1. What did God stir in you as you watched the Video this morning?
  2. When you watched the video about the children in Kenya what caught your attention?
  3. We are called to donate to a lot of causes.  How do you decide what to donate to?  Do you have a plan or is it a random decision as your heart is tugged?
  4. How would you define the difference between a donation and total surrender? 
  5. How might we surrender ourselves as a church to support, encourage and help Eric and Laura in their new ministry?
  6. What is the main take away for you from today’s teaching and or discussion and how will you apply it to your life?

2 .What does remaining in Jesus look like to you?

3. Is “remaining” in Jesus difficult or easy for you? Why do you say this?
How well do you “remain” each day?

4. What is Jesus trying to say when he says “ask for whatever you wish and it will be done for you?

5. How would you teach someone else a neighbor, or your son or daughter, to “remain?”

6. What are the takeaways from the discussion for you today? How will you Integrate them into your life this week?
